If you are serious about controlling and maintaining your health and fitness, then there is a good reason to get yourself a decent fitness tracker watch. Such device will help you in checking your fitness levels and keep yourself in touch with enough activity every day. Besides, such kind of smartwatches has become a trending lifestyle accessory. Fitbit is a particular company that has produced various fitness tracker watches, and they are all very popular on the market. Among them, Blaze and Surge are two models that come with the richest features. So, between Blaze and Surge, which is the one that you should get to assist you in staying healthy and fit?
Design and Durability
Like other Fitbit watches, Blaze and Surge are using elastomer material, that is flexible and very durable, for the wristband, and surgical-grade stainless steel material for the buckle. However, Fitbit Blaze and Fitbit Surge look very differently from each other because of the display screen. Fitbit Blaze appears typically bigger and bulkier due to having a wide color LCD touchscreen, which is furtherly protected by a frame that is constructed of the same material as the buckle. On the contrary, Fitbit Surge comes with a monochrome LCD touchscreen that is identical in size with the wristband, making it significantly slimmer and thinner.
Both Fitbit Blaze and Fitbit Surge are waterproof to endure some splashes and sweats, but they are not fully water resistant. They should not be submerged, hence they should not be used for swimming. Regarding battery life, Fitbit Surge can be more durable than Fitbit Blaze, s the Surge can last up to 7 days on a single charge while the Blaze can only last for 5 days maximum. The difference is most probably caused by the different display screens.
Blaze and Surge feature various identical functions. They are both able to count steps, floors climbed, calories, and distance. There are also sleep detection and tracking, auto exercise recognition, continuous heart rate monitoring, clock, and multi-sports support. They are both capable of alerting you if you have acquired enough sleep or if you have been idle way too long, encouraging you to stay active. The two are seemingly able to track and map your movement, but, actually, Fitbit Blaze does not have a built-in GPS. Instead, Fitbit Blaze uses the GPS in the connected device. On the other hand, Fitbit Surge comes with a built-in GPS, allowing you to use the GPS-related functions even though your mobile device is not connected.

Fitbit Surge is quite pricier for providing a longer battery life and a built-in GPS. However, these features may not be exactly crucial. Besides, the monochrome display screen may seem to be a compromise from Fitbit Blaze’s color display screen. Therefore, for the best bang out of the bucks, you can choose Fitbit Blaze and still get all the fitness tracking functions needed!
